TasMail Member Terms and Conditions

TasMail is a free internet E-mail service provided by Telstra to support users on Networking Tasmania. The service is provided to individuals who are at least 18 years of age or minors who have parental permission to open an account.

New accounts are no longer able to be created on TasMail.

3. Security - UserID and Password

The confidentiality of your Userid and password is entirely your responsibility.  Furthermore you are entirely responsible for any and all activities that occur on your account.  Telstra accepts no responsibility for misuse or loss of either Userid or Password.  If you wish to cancel your account, your sole remedy is discontinue using it.

4.  Service Continuity

Telstra reserves the right to discontinue the Tasmail service at any time after provision of a minimum of 90 days notice.

Telstra reserves the right to cancel any individual accounts at any time.  Conditions that may cause the account to be cancelled include, but are not limited to:

• the account has been inactive for a period greater than 90 days.
• the account has been identified as being used for any purpose that is unlawful under State, Federal or International laws.
• the account has been used for the transmission or storage of material considered to be obscene, indecent or considered unlawful.
• the account has been identified as generating unsolicited "SPAM" mail.
• the account has been used to transmit or upload viruses or other deleterious programs.
• the account is one of multiple accounts established and used by a single user.
• the user of the account has attempted to resell or represent the service for commercial gain.
• the user of the account has attempted to gain unauthorised access to the service, other accounts computer systems or networks.

The service operates as an electronic E-mail service which allows each account 5Mb of space, mail messages and attachments that cause the account to exceed this limit will not be delivered or stored. It is the responsibility of the account owner to delete unwanted messages or attachments once the system indicates this limit has been breached.

Telstra reserves the right to purge any messages and attachments that have been stored greater than 90 days.

For security reasons system sessions will be disconnected after 30 minutes of inactivity.

5. Disclaimer

Telstra makes no representation about the suitability, reliability, availability, timeliness and accuracy of the service for any purpose.  The service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind.

Telstra disclaims liability to all persons in relation to direct, indirect, punitive, incidental, consequential or any other damages whatsoever, including, but not limited to, damages for loss of use, data or profits arising from the delay of inability to use the service, failure to provide service or any other performance or technical limitation of the service.

You accept and agree that the use of Tasmail is your sole risk, any material downloaded or obtained using this service is at your own risk, you will be solely responsible for any consequences, loss or damage resulting from the download of any such material or data.

6. Privacy

Lists and details of service accounts will not be provided to any 3rd party not associated with the delivery of this service.  

Telstra does not and cannot monitor, censor or edit contents of user's messages. You acknowledge that this E-mail service is NOT a secure service and accept the possibility that contents may be viewed by another party.
